Fortress becomes the prison is a collection that intends to document the gradual degradation of the human psyche that occurs when a safe haven built for solitude becomes a cell for the very person who built it.

The collection takes inspiration from a single solitary moment, a young woman in her dark bedroom, isolated from the world on the other side of the door and experiencing the calm lucid dread that comes with the realisation that the damage is irreversible.

Further taking historical and cultural inspiration from fortress architecture, corsetry and the bed itself, the collection makes expression of this moment through three components: the consistently rising collar, the cinched or restricted waist and the gradual transition from structured silhouettes to silhouettes that envelope the wearer.

The collections colour palette lives in the colour of the dark and uncared-for room.
